Jay WaitMember Profile |
I started running seriously with the specific goal of losing 30 pounds in the year 2002. After that, I found that I enjoyed running - enough so that I really miss it if I skip a few days.
I actually ran for two years in high school, and for a couple of years in the early 1980's, but have only consistently run for the last 10 years or so.
My first race in the recent era was the Shorewood 5k in 1999. I ran with my daughter (for the first couple of yards) and finished in 30:33.
I really enjoy the River to River Relay in southern Illinois.
Since I prefer running in the morning, if I eat anything before a long run it is likely to be cereal.
I like the I & M Canal trail. During one summer, I ran segments to cover the whole distance from Rockdale to Peru, and was surprised at the variation over that distance.
I occasionally get on the bike, but am not much of a swimmer, so I haven't taken an interest in triathlons.
